Elissa Pope, MS, LCMHC

elissa pope

Elissa worked in the community in education for many years before seeking a position as a therapist. She has a passion for working with young adults and older, which is paired with patience and understanding. Elissa is excited to also offer Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). She works from our Cary location.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy was developed as a top treatment for post-traumatic stress and many other concerns. With time and research, it has been modified for depression, anxiety, self-damaging behavior, and other issues. EMDR is a rapid and powerful treatment that does not present the level of discomfort as traditional talk therapy. It is endorsed by the World Health Organization, American Psychiatric Association, and the Department of Defense. Experience freedom today with our trauma-informed treatment.

“Finding a counselor can quickly begin to feel overwhelming, especially when you are in the midst of a transition, struggling socially, or having difficulty with depression or anxiety. Having over 10 years of experience working with individuals, I provide individualized services that will allow you the space to explore both your growth areas, as well as your strengths while feeling seen, heard, and validated. I offer convenient appointments, perfect for the busy schedule.

Our experiences and difficulties in life often lead to anxiety, depression, anger, and social issues. To identify thoughts, acknowledge feelings, address behaviors, and promote inner-peace, I utilize an integrated therapy model. This includes trauma-informed care, dialectical interventions, Narrative skills, and mindfulness strategies. Taking the first step toward support can feel difficult, but the rewards for you can be endless.”
