Isabel Hazboun, MS, LCMHCA

Isabel is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate who works with children, adolescents, teens, and young adults. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Science in Clinical Counseling from East Carolina University. Isabel is passionate about helping young people feel understood, supported, and accepted as they navigate the many emotional, social, academic, and developmental challenges that can come with growing up.

Isabel believes therapy should feel approachable, meaningful, and provide a safe space where clients can truly be themselves. For many children and adolescents, finding the right words to describe what they are feeling can be difficult. Isabel understands that emotions and experiences are not always easy to communicate through conversation alone. She works to create a comfortable therapeutic environment where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace while developing greater self-awareness, confidence, and coping skills.

Isabel has a strong passion for working with children and teens and enjoys helping clients navigate a wide range of concerns. Her areas of interest include big emotions and emotional regulation, anxiety, trauma, relationships, self-esteem, school-related challenges, family dynamics, and the many changes and transitions that occur throughout childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood. She recognizes that each client brings their own unique experiences, personality, strengths, and perspective into therapy and believes treatment should be tailored to the individual rather than approached with a one-size-fits-all mindset.

A particular area of interest for Isabel is neurodiversity-affirming care. She enjoys supporting clients with ADHD and autism and believes that differences in how people think, communicate, learn, process information, and experience the world should be understood and respected rather than viewed as something that needs to be “fixed.” Her goal is to help clients better understand themselves, recognize their strengths, develop strategies that work for them, and feel more confident in who they are.

Isabel’s therapeutic approach is grounded in Person-Centered Therapy and incorporates a strengths-based, collaborative, and authentic perspective. She believes the therapeutic relationship is an important part of the counseling process and strives to build trust and connection with each client. Rather than simply focusing on problems or challenges, Isabel works with clients to identify their existing strengths and build upon the qualities that can help them navigate difficult situations. She believes clients are the experts on their own experiences and values working alongside them to identify goals and explore what meaningful progress looks like for them.

When working with children, Isabel incorporates Play Therapy, Art and Creative Expression, and Sand Tray Therapy to help clients communicate and process experiences in ways that words alone may not be able to capture. Play and creative expression can provide children with a natural and comfortable way to explore emotions, experiences, relationships, and concerns. Through these approaches, children can begin to make sense of difficult experiences while developing emotional awareness and healthy coping skills.

Isabel has a particular interest in Sand Tray Therapy and plans to pursue additional training toward becoming a Registered Play Therapist. She appreciates the opportunities that creative and experiential approaches provide for children to express themselves in ways that feel natural and engaging. Whether through play, art, storytelling, or the use of a sand tray, these approaches can help children explore their inner worlds while allowing the therapeutic process to meet them at their developmental level.

With adolescents and young adults, Isabel provides a space where clients can openly explore the challenges that often accompany growing independence and personal development. School, friendships, family relationships, self-esteem, identity, anxiety, emotional regulation, and other life changes can feel overwhelming during these stages. Isabel strives to help clients develop a better understanding of themselves while building practical coping skills and greater confidence in their ability to navigate challenges.

At the heart of Isabel’s work is connection. She values empathy, curiosity, and collaboration and works to create meaningful therapeutic relationships where clients feel comfortable being themselves. She believes that feeling genuinely heard and accepted can be an important foundation for growth. Her goal is to support clients as they develop confidence, strengthen coping skills, better understand their emotions, and build a stronger sense of self.

Outside of the therapy room, Isabel enjoys spending time with family and friends and exploring hidden-gem cities. She loves spending time in nature and is currently growing her own little garden. She also enjoys creating art, trying new foods, and spending time with her dog, Toby. These interests reflect Isabel’s appreciation for creativity, exploration, connection, and finding joy in the everyday moments of life.

Whether a child is struggling to communicate their emotions, a teenager is navigating anxiety or self-esteem concerns, or a young adult is working through a period of change, Isabel strives to make therapy a welcoming and supportive experience. She is committed to meeting each client where they are, recognizing their individual strengths, and creating a space where they can feel understood, valued, and free to be themselves.
